Hi Jordan, thanks so much for taking the time out to do this interview.

Can you please tell readers about your background, and how you got involved in investing?

I came to professional investing via a circuitous route.  I worked at Duff & Phelps for about a decade in their investment banking division.  Duff & Phelps (now Kroll Securities) is probably the largest independent valuation company in the world.

While I was focused mostly on M&A transactions, I was exposed to all types of complex valuation work for both private and public companies.  When I decided to launch the investment management business after leaving Duff & Phelps, I used the valuation concepts and techniques I learned as the foundation for Midway Partners’ intrinsic valuation approach.

So, while not a direct path to investing through other funds or investment companies, having a background steeped in fundamental intrinsic valuation was a great proving ground for our style of investing.
